2005 EVENT  INFORMATION

2005 PACIFIC NORTHWEST NATIONALS UPDATE
By Ed Konsmo

The registrations are coming in and several questions have surfaced.  In the January JWO we omitted the Judging Classification and hotel reservation information.  The judging class list is in the February JWO.  Please be sure to complete the class information on your registration form.

The phone number for the SeaTac DoubleTree Hotel is 206-248-8600.  The reservation desk is open from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. PST.  Please state that you are with the Olds Club of America in order to get the special rate of $106 per night.  The hotel address is 18740 Pacific Highway South, Seattle, WA. 98188.  The hotel is located directly across the street from the SeaTac Airport.  If you are flying in, when you arrive, go to the transportation level of the airport and call for the free DoubleTree shuttle at the call center by the curb.

The Swap Meet is located eight tenths of a mile east of the hotel.  There will be a free shuttle running all day between the hotel and the swap meet, Wednesday thru Saturday.  Trailer unloading and parking will be at the swap meet location.  There will be no trailer unloading on the hotel grounds due to a very restricted area.  For those who register with a trailer, we will send you a map with your confirmation letter.

The show field is located on the east side of the hotel grounds.  If necessary, you may use your car except on Friday when it will have to be on the show field until judging is completed.  There will be transportation provided for all of the tours.  For the spouses who like to shop, the hotel has a free shuttle to Westfield Shopping Mall at South Center.

We are considering the addition of two classes for judging at the 2005 Nationals for Rallye 350 cars and 73-77 Cutlasses.  If there is a registration of 5 or more in each of the groups, we will feature them in a special class.  Otherwise, they will be included in the classes that they have been judged in past Nationals.

For those who wish to stay after the Nationals and see more of the Pacific Northwest splendor, we will have staff at the registration area to aid you in your planning.

All roads lead to the Pacific Northwest Nationals.  Find the one that you like the best and join us for the time of your life.

The Seattle Downtown Daytime Loop Tour
By Erik Martinson - Puget Sound Chapter

Stop #3:   Hi again, if you have been following the journey of “the Tour”, the next stop will be in the Heart of Downtown Seattle.

From this stop you will be able to visit the famous Seattle Public Market with its flying fish, as seen national TV (football, baseball, etc.), while at the market you can find just about anything from A- Z.  Art - fine to foolish, antiques, boutiques, books, collectibles, and jewelry, to wine and Zucchini.  There are also many places to catch a quick bite if you didn’t do so at Pioneer Square.  You’ll find everything from ethic food stands to the chowder house that took #1 three times running at the National Chowder competition (they were asked to not enter after that).  There are multitudes of craft booths of our local artisan’s creations.  From here you can take the Skybridge to the waterfront with all its attractions or just find a place to sit and watch the activities on Elliott Bay.  You will also be next to all the major stores and Westlake Mall with the 1962 Worlds Fair Monorail station.  You could take a ride on the train, which runs to the Seattle Center (which just happens to be the next stop on the tour) and get back on the bus there.  The Downtown stop is ‘the’ stop if you are into ‘power shopping’ there is a branch of every major department store and specialty shop known to woman all within a few blocks of each other.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Loop Tour, you will have a great time and we will have you back to hotel in time to get ready to catch the bus for the Blake Island Tillicum Village Salmon Bake that evening.
